“The numbers are getting worse for Biden with his favorables dropping 5 points in a week.”
Market Research Foundation’s recent analysis of the late August YouGov poll showed faith in President Biden’s leadership tanking, with nearly four in ten Americans (39%) and almost half of Independents (46%) saying Biden is a ‘very weak’ leader.
The poll also found just one-third of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the Afghanistan situation and almost two in three Americans (64%) say national security is a very important issue now.
A new YouGov poll shows Biden’s support continuing to erode with his favorables dropping to just 42% Tuesday, down 5 points from a week ago. Biden’s unfavorable numbers are up four points and now sit at 51%.
The numbers get worse with non-college whites. Biden’s favorability with non-college white men plummeted six points since last week, dropping from 36% to 30%, and his unfavorables rose six points from 59% to 65%. He has not done much better with non-college white women. Biden’s unfavorable rating with non-college white women sits at 62%, up 5 points from a week ago.

Non-college whites are far form the only group scrutinizing the Biden administration, however. Biden’s unfavorable numbers with college-educated white men rose nine points in just a week, from 50% to 59%. He now sits at a 40% favorable rating with white college educated men, down from 50% from last week.

Biden also lost five points with young people, going from a favorable rating of 39% to 34%, and placing his favorability rating with eighteen to twenty-nine-year-olds one point higher than Trump’s.
Biden’s favorables with Hispanics fell eight points since last week from 53% to 45%, and his unfavorables rose one point from 36% to 37%.
Unfortunately for Democrats, Vice President Kamala Harris’ numbers are even worse than Biden’s. Kamala sits at a favorable rating of just 39%, down 3 points from last week. Harris’ unfavorable rating is up 5 points in just a week, and now sits at 52%.

Harris’ unfavorable numbers rose six points with non-college white men from 58% to 64% in a week and her favorable numbers fell 7 points from 32% to 25% over the same time period. Harris’ unfavorable numbers rose six points with non-college white women, from 54% to 60% in a week, and her favorable numbers dropped 4 points from 33% to 29% in a week.
These numbers are a sobering reminder that President Biden’s support is continuing to erode in the wake of the Afghanistan crisis. Americans are increasingly concerned about threats of terrorism, and a majority do not see Biden as a strong leader.
