These allegations come at a time when President Biden’s approval rating has fallen substantially with groups Democrats rely on, namely young people and minorities.
A bombshell of a new poll on “spygate” shows a majority of voters are taking allegations that Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign spied on Trump Tower very seriously, with two-thirds of voters saying the allegations are important, and half saying they are “very important.”
The poll was conducted by Rasmussen last Thursday after Special Counsel John Durham filed a motion alleging the Clinton campaign paid an internet company to monitor servers at Trump Tower and the White House in an effort to link Trump to Russia.
Allegations have also been made that the Biden campaign hired the same company in 2020, an accusation two-thirds of voters think is important, and over half think is “very important”. Young people and Black Americans show the most concern over these allegations, according to Rasmussen’s data.
The poll asked voters whether the allegations against the Clinton campaign are important, and 68% of voters say they are important, with 50% saying they are very important. Young people are especially concerned about the allegations against Clinton, with 73% of voters 18 to 39 saying the allegations are important, compared to 66% of voters 40 to 64 and 64% of voters over 65.

Sixty-five percent of voters agree with the statement that the allegations made against the 2016 Clinton campaign are “a scandal far greater in scope and magnitude than Watergate and those who were involved in and knew about this spying operation should be subject to criminal prosecution.”
Black voters are more likely to say the Clinton allegations are worse than Watergate, with 66% of Black voters saying the allegations are worse than Watergate compared to 64% of Whites.
When asked if the allegations that Biden’s 2020 campaign hired the same company Clinton is accused of hiring to spy on Trump are important, 68% of voters say the allegations are important, including 52% who say the allegations are “very important.”
While a majority of voters are taking allegations linking the Biden campaign to the company Clinton allegedly hired to spy on Trump seriously, Black voters are taking the allegations more seriously than Whites.
According to Rasmussen, 68% of Blacks think the allegations linking Biden’s campaign to the company Clinton allegedly hired to spy on Trump are important, compared to 66% of Whites. Young voters are also disproportionately concerned about the allegations, with 71% of voters under 40 saying the allegations are important compared to 66% of voters 40-64.

The fact that a strong majority of Americans are taking allegations against Clinton seriously does not bode well for Democrats, but the allegation that the Biden campaign allegedly hired the same company could damage Democrats’ midterms prospects.
These allegations come at a time when President Biden’s approval rating has fallen substantially since he took office, especially with groups Democrats rely on, namely young people and minorities. The latest YouGov poll has Biden’s approval rating down 11 points since he took office, but he has lost a staggering 23 points with voters eighteen to twenty-nine since taking office. Biden has also lost 15 points with Blacks since taking office.
As more details emerge regarding the allegations against the Clinton campaign and the Biden campaign’s alleged use of the same company, these numbers could change. However, these allegations are being taken seriously by a majority of voters and could cause significant issues for Democrats with young people and minorities heading into the midterm elections.
