Trump Leads Biden and all Other Candidates with Hispanics in This 2024 Poll

When asked who they would vote for if the 2024 election were held today, the largest share of Hispanics (20.4%) chose Donald Trump. Former First Lady Michelle Obama came in second and President Joe Biden came in third.

A new poll conducted by Democratic pollster and professor Eduardo Gamarra shows Democrats’ issues with Latinos are far-reaching and will impact both the midterms and the next presidential election.

This comes on the heels of the Texas primaries which saw double the turnout in the GOP primary in dense Latino districts compared to 2018, and new polls showing Hispanics’ concerns about inflation and Ukraine are pushing them toward the GOP.

The poll, conducted with Americano Media among 1,500 Hispanic adults, shows that former President Trump leads President Joe Biden for the 2024 presidential race, and the top issues concerning Hispanics this year are inflation and the situation in Ukraine.

While this may come as shocking, especially from a left-leaning polling group, the reality is Hispanics have been moving toward the GOP since 2016 and continue to hold relatively favorable views of former President Trump, while their opinion of Biden has declined substantially.

Even more notable is the diversity of those who say they would support Trump in 2024. Although unsurprisingly, the largest share of Latinos who say they would support Trump in 2024 identify as Republican (53.8%), almost a fifth of Trump’s support stems from Independent Latinos (18.2%) and over 5% of Latino Democrats say they would support Trump as well. Twenty-five percent of Hispanics who identify as Greens also support Trump, but the sample size is relatively small.

The fact that Trump is now the leading 2024 candidate among Latinos, and appears to be building a coalition of both Republicans and Third Party Hispanics, should be very troubling for Democrats. What is more, rising inflation and the debacle in Ukraine on the Biden Administration’s watch may continue to drive Latinos toward the right.
