The Radical Left is Losing the Gender War with Young People – Including Democrats

Democrat men under 50 now oppose feminism at slightly higher rates than Republican men over 50.

A new survey out of the Southern Poverty Law Center – an organization that could hardly be accused of a right-wing bias – just proved the left is losing the gender war.

SPLC just released a vast report warning supporters that “hard right ideas” are gaining significant traction in the United States, especially when it comes to gender ideology.

The survey shows the radical left’s gender ideology is particularly unpopular with younger Americans, including younger Democrats, and it is baby boomers, not Gen X, Millennials or Gen Z, who are its strongest proponents.

This finding contradicts the mainstream narrative that younger Americans are the most rabidly anti-traditionalist group, though you’d be forgiven for buying into that assumption if you’ve spent much time perusing Blue Check Twitter.

However, when asked directly about the core tenets of the radial left’s gender ideology, younger Democrats show serious reservations about modern feminism and the transgender movement.

The survey found nearly half of Democrat men (47%) under age 50 believe “gender ideology has corrupted American culture” while only 20% of Democrat men over age 50 agree.

While opposition to the radical left’s gender ideology is strongest among young men, over a third (37%) of younger Democrat women also say gender ideology has corrupted American culture.

Younger Democrats also admit the transgender movement is a threat to children, with 42% of younger Democrat men saying that the transgender movement is a threat to children and 40% saying it is “trying to indoctrinate children.” Over a third (34%) of younger Democrat women agree that the transgender movement is actively indoctrinating children.

As Front Page Mag pointed out in their analysis, there is a vast generational divide among Democrat men when it comes to views on feminism. “While only 2% of boomer liberal men agreed that “feminism has done more harm than good”, 46% of young male Democrats, a majority, believe that is the case.

The polling results indicate Democrat men under 50 now oppose feminism at slightly higher rates than Republican men over 50.

SPLC summed up the survey’s findings with a dire warning:

“Taken together, these results suggest that a sizable proportion of men across the political spectrum, as well as large numbers of right-leaning women, perceive the progress made toward transgender rights and gender equality as potential threats.”

While these numbers may seem odd, there is ample evidence younger Americans, particularly men, are moving to the right on a number of issues.

Market Research Foundation found Gen Z is widely supportive of conservative policies that put Americans first including limited government, non-interventionalist foreign-policy, strong border security and cuts to foreign aid.

On illegal immigration, our survey found 81% of Zoomers say immigrants must follow the rules to become citizens even if they are difficult.

We also found 58% of Zoomers say it doesn’t matter if illegal immigrants cause problems; if they came here illegally, they need to leave or go through the proper procedures to stay.

This stance is supported by 86% of Zoomer Republicans, 61% of Zoomer Independents, and even 42% of Zoomer Democrats.

On foreign intervention, we found 70% of Zoomers think the U.S. should stay out of international conflicts and only become involved when we are forced to.

Support for non-interventionism is highest among Zoomer Independents (71%), while an equal share of Zoomer Republicans and Democrats support non-interventionism (68%).

We found a full 73% of Zoomers agree with an “America First” philosophy, where the primary goal of any law or policy must be to focus on the needs of Americans, even if they are not in line with the interests of foreign nations and allies.

Why the marked split of younger Democrat men from the far-left? There are a myriad of reasons, but three that come to mind are popular male figureheads speaking out against leftist ideology, the fact that younger men tend to get their news through decentralized channels rather than CNN, and the fact that gender ideology is now institutionalized, not the edgy landscape it once was.

First, popular male figureheads – think Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Kanye West and Jordan Peterson – who were once viewed as more or less political centrists, have firmly distanced themselves from the far-left. Their rejection of the far-left – and the far-left’s subsequent harassment of them – has shown young men the leaders they admire, even Elon who is far from a traditional “conservative”, are anti-leftist group think.

Second, younger men skew toward the hyper-online, getting their news through Right Wing Twitter, Gab, Parler, and a network of Discord groups and other decentralized chat groups. Younger Democrats are not sitting down to watch 60 Minutes, leaving them to arrive at their views by coming face to face with the left’s blatant agenda, instead of getting a filtered version through the mainstream media.

Last, it is not exactly controversial to suggest that young people, especially young men, often go through phases of rejecting elements of the mainframe culture. In the modern age, the left is the mainstream culture.

You can’t order an Uber, a sandwich, or a pair of flip flops without the gay flag following you around like an omen. The radical left’s aggressive gender ideology is no longer edgy but baked in and institutionalized.

With increasingly perverse “pride” celebrations featuring unclothed adults riding bicycles in front of grade-schoolers to growing reports of transgender ideology infecting the public school system to the abortion-on-demand left’s violent meltdowns in the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision, it is not surprising young Democrats are taking a hard look at where they stand on gender issues.
