Americans are becoming increasingly critical of major institutions that promote left-wing propaganda including mainstream media and universities.
New data shows just 11% of Americans have significant confidence in television news, and the number of Americans who say universities are a positive influence on society has dropped 14 points in just two years. What’s more, the radical left ideologies that permeate news media and higher education are turning off younger generations – including young Democrat men.
A recent Gallup poll shows most Americans have little to no confidence in mainstream news, with 46% of Americans saying they have very little or no confidence in newspapers and 53% saying they have very little or no confidence in TV news.
Most Americans have little to no confidence in mainstream news.
Gallup notes that confidence in TV news has steadily declined since 1993 when the question wax first asked, but has averaged 27%, making today’s 11% unusually low.
While Democrats continue to have higher confidence in the mainstream news in which dogmatic leftism dominates, even Democrats are beginning to sour on the media.
Just 5% of Republicans and 12% of Independents have confidence in newspapers, the lowest on record since Gallup began tracking these numbers. Democrats’ confidence in mainstream news sits at just 35% now, around eight-points lower than it was during the Trump Administration. While Republican confidence in mainstream media has been steadily declining, Democrats apparently trusted the media more when it was singularly focused on criticizing Trump.

Declining confidence in mainstream media is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Americans’ growing distrust in powerful institutions. A new survey from the left-leaning think tank New America found the share of Americans saying higher education has a positive influence on society has dropped 14 points from 69% two years ago to just 55% today. Republicans saw a 24-point drop in belief that a higher education is a positive influence on society between 2020 and 2022, but Democrats also saw a decline of 7 points.
Even more interesting is the fact that many Americans, including younger Democrats, are vehemently rejecting the left’s attempt to foist radical feminism and gender ideology onto the population.
SPLC released a vast propaganda piece warning supporters that “hard right ideas” as controversial as the biological basis for gender are gaining significant traction in the United States.

SPLC’s survey shows when Americans are asked directly about the core tenets of the radial left’s gender ideology, a growing number of younger Democrats oppose radical feminism and believe the transgender movement is a threat to children.
Nearly half of Democrat men (47%) under age 50 believe “gender ideology has corrupted American culture” compared to just 20% of Democrat men over 50.
While opposition to the radical left’s gender ideology is strongest among young men, over a third (37%) of younger Democrat women also say gender ideology has corrupted American culture.
Younger Democrats also admit the transgender movement is a threat to children, with 42% of younger Democrat men saying that the transgender movement is a threat to children and 40% saying it is “trying to indoctrinate children.” Over a third (34%) of younger Democrat women agree that the transgender movement is actively indoctrinating children.
It’s no surprise that Americans’ confidence in mainstream institutions is falling, considering these institutions are now a breeding ground for unhinged ideologies that divide and distract.
